Re: Disrespectful character and behavior of employees

Mr. Creed:

On September 1, 2009 your employees decided to challenge my integrity. On September 1, 2009 I brought my 2006 Nissan Sentra to this location as scheduled between you and I. When I entered your establishment, I was greeted by a young lady who requested I initial and sign a Car Collision Customer “Authorization and Power Attorney” form. I requested the young lady read the documents attached to my file.

I informed the young lady that this form did not apply to me. Another belligerent woman decided to take up the issue about my signing this form. This person attempted to degrade and embarrass me with her “disrespectful performance” about how I could not leave my car because I did not sign this form, as she looked in my file asking me if I was following the email message in the file, which read in part “…Mr. Nance will come by when part is in….” I informed her I am here.

This “belligerent” lady started talking to me disrespectfully and giving disrespectful body language when I informed her that I was Dr. Nance, and that I am a social policy analyst, reviewing policy every day. I informed this “belligerent” lady that she should talk to you about my dropping my car off. I explained the issues of the car, and informed this lady that the Illinois Attorney General was involved in this matter regarding Nissan and this bumper. This did not mean anything to her, as she continued to disrespect me with her tone of voice and mannerisms.

This lady “summoned” another gentleman to take over my case because she said I could not leave my car. This young man started completing a “pre-inspection form” on my car. After completing it, this young man told me I needed to sign it because he did not want me to come back saying Cars Collision did something to my car. I was appalled at this statement. I told this guy “lets not make this personal.”

I informed this young man and the disrespectful “belligerent” lady that I wanted to speak to owner. The “belligerent” woman called Mike. The “belligerent” woman began telling Mike her version of the story. Mike informed me that they could not do any work on my car if I did not sign the form. I informed them that the “customer authorization and power attorney” form did not apply to me. The “belligerent” lady pointed her finger on the form to the language “…I also grant you or your employees permission to operate the vehicle for the purpose of testing and/or inspection on streets, highways or elsewhere” telling Mike that I had to sign this form because they could not “work” on my vehicle because of this language. Mike agreed. Yet, this language does not make reference to “work” on my vehicle. This language specifically refers to “…operate the vehicle for the purpose of testing….”

Again, I referred them to you. I informed them that you knew about my case. I also requested they look at the file in this case. The “belligerent” woman said Mr. Nance…, but before she could say anything else I informed her I was Dr. Nance to her. The “belligerent” woman “raised” her eyebrows stating, “Dr. Nance” with a disrespectful smirk on her face.

Wherefore, I request an apology from this “belligerent” woman and Mike. As you well know, the documents they are requesting me to sign are already part of my record regarding the issues of this car. If they would have listened to this respectful and dignified customer, they would have discovered that I brought a legitimate argument about the issues the “belligerent” woman raised. I expect that you will honor the agreement between AAA, you and myself before this embarrassing issue was raised.

I am posting this letter on my blog with the issues I raise about Nissan, which is located under the title “Illinois Attorney General Consumer Fraud”.

I am not sure, but most of the individuals I see working at this establishment are white. There is not a “black” employee sitting up front to greet your customers, but it appears that most of your customers are “black” as I am. I bring this up because of how I was “talked down too” by your employees, who are white. The “belligerent” lady mentioned above is white. She talked to me like I was just some “dumb” black man talking. This “belligerent” lady had the nerve to act like I could not read when she was discussing the email message with me.

I informed them I would send you a copy of the letter I wrote to the Illinois Attorney General’s office. I am also faxing this letter to you.

Respectfully submitted

Fred Nance Jr., PhD
