South Holland, Illinois Resident Earns Ph.D. Degree from Walden University
Minneapolis, Minnesota - Walden University celebrated the graduation of more than 3,300 students at its 43rd commencement ceremony held Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. The Walden graduates represented 49 states and 25 countries.
Margaret Spellings, former U.S. Secretary of Education and one of the nation’s leading experts on the future competitiveness of the American workforce, gave the commencement address. The commencement ceremony and address can be viewed via webcast at www.WaldenU.edu.
The Walden graduates earned bachelor, master, or doctoral degrees designed for the needs of working professionals. Most students worked full time while completing their degrees through Walden’s online programs.

• INTERESTING FACTS: Dr. Nance is 60-years-old. He did not have a G.E.D. at the age of 42 when he was incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for almost 3 years for his drug addiction and negative social behaviors in 1992. He started college while he was incarcerated. While incarcerated, Dr. Nance’s wife of 16 years was murdered in Chicago. Dr. Nance’s youngest child found her mother’s body. Dr. Nance became a single parent to this child upon his release from IDOC. Dr. Nance received his Master degree from Roosevelt University in 1999 when this youngest child graduated from High School. This child that Dr. Nance raised as a single parent is now in a Master degree program seeking a Criminal Justice degree. Dr. Nance developed and created C.L.I.C.K. Services, NFP.
