Hello Everyone,I agree with the post below, charity does start at home. As a community as a whole we have allowed every race to humiliate the Black womanâs image, especially if she is dark skinned with a well-endowed body. You can see it in Eddie Murphyâs movie Norbit to the videos, and of course follow it back to slavery. We, Black Women, are constantly objectified every single day in the media, especially so by our Black Men. While I donât condone any racist remark from anyone, including this Imus character, letâs not stationed our anger on an old white man who only reiterated and stated so leisurely, what our Black men say on a daily basis to and about us in the name of art and making money, i.e., movies, comedy, and of course rap videos. We live in a hypocritical society, that says, shame on Janet Jackson for exposing her left breast on national television and no to Bill Cosbyâs request to purchase a major media network, and YES to Beyonce near naked at every chance, gyrating around a stage when children are present, and videos that have Black women partaking in the most degrading acts.We live in a society that says it is okay for a BLACK MAN to call himself,â¦âMs. Jâ on Americaâs Nest Top Model and to dress, to instruct WOMEN on how to walk down a runway and act like a woman! Our children are seeing all of this! I hardly think Imus comment suddenly initiated the defamation of the Black Communityâs image, especially the BLACK WOMANâS image. I have NOT heard too many BLACK MEN outraged about Imusâ comment, which is consistent with their failure to protect us, BLACK WOMEN, and respect us. I donât see your Puff Daddysâ. Eddie Murphy, LL Cool J, Michael Jordan, Kolby Bryant, etc., the list goes on, outraged by Imusâs comment. Therefore, before we go asking for Imusâ head on a platter, ask for the plugged to be pulled on this so called HIP HOP garbage that defiles women, protest the videos that are aired constantly with Black women body parts plastered all over it, demand the local and national radio stations get that trash they deem music off the airways that poison our childrenâs minds and deaden their spirits.I think as a community, African Americans pick the wrong battles many times, which contributes to us always losing the war against racism in this country. We pull out the guns for Imus, but Trey the Chocolate Jock on 92.3 can play all the trash he wants and simply say the rappers are telling what is happening on the streetsâ¦they are keeping it real! Get that crap out of here! Please do not get caught up in the media hype about Imusâ comment. Heâs only articulated what our own people depict in so many other ways everyday! Are we truly mad about what Imus said or are we angry about the manifestation of our self-exploitation over the years as a Black community and now it is commonplace on the tongues of non-Blacks, especially media darlings? Is it okay for us to identify ourselves as niggas, bitches and hoes, and not others? The degradation of Black Women is a culture in and of itself and a major money maker. TRUST ME when I say this, Imus is not our enemy, WE ARE OUR OWN ENEMY! Again, CHARITY STARTS AT HOME! Damn an apology, Iâd rather stop the real madness, which at this point, has nothing do with this old white, bumpkinâs opinion of Black women. I am concern about OUR, the Black Community, opinion of Black women.

04-10-07I emailed the SAME sentiments: While what happened IS deplorabe;doesit mean that if Blacks call each other bitches, hos, nigga',dog, etc that THAT'S okay because we're NOT white????? I absolutely agree that enough ISenough and I'm thoroughly disgusted that our perception is so wacked outthat we practice 'Situational Ethics' or morals ....YES we NEED to clean ourhouse. I cannot understand how these terms are okay depending on who'susing them. No wonder our children are behaving the way they are. We haveallowed the standards of self-respect, caring and not to mention our faith godown the tubes. I am angry that black men do not respect us but I'm alsoupset and angry at the sisters who think the only way to get a man's attentionis to show everything they have (regardless of your size) .This whole thing should make each of us take a look at ourselves as well. What kind of music do we listen to , purchase, movies, how's our speechwhen we are angry, how do WE dress, all of us have work to do. I also agreethat if we/girls/men/ etc, refer to us in that fashion what can we expect othersto do.Most people learn by example. What examples are We setting for ourselves?????? Margo Coulter

If we call ourselves( and i mean those women who use these terms), "hos" and "bitches", what do we expect white folk to do? Respect begiNS at home African Americans. Black women struggle enough with self image, why do we allow this image of us that is displayed On BET to continue. In addition to chastising Imus, we should do as the BIble says 1 Cor 11:28, But let a man examine himself..... if we would do this, we would mount up with wings like eagles instead of chickens, and speak to BET and any other people or persons that promote the image that we are speaking about. Why must the Black woman suffer humiliation any longer, we beatify ourselves for nought, because we have no men that honOR us or cause others to honor us. THE IMAGE ON BET MUST GO. I URGE EVERYONE TO WRITE A LETTER TO BET PROTESTING THAT HORRIBLE IMAGE AND STOPPING THE PROMOTION OF MUSIC THAT DEPICTS US AS "BLANK BLANK BLANK"
