Dear Illinois MoveOn member,

In the midst of a legislative session that disappointed on marriage equality, fracking, and concealed carry, there is a bright spot. The Illinois Legislature has passed a resolution calling for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to overturn the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision. MoveOn members across the state signed the petition started by Evelyn Miks—and we won!

Here's a full update from Evelyn:
Greetings:
Illinois is now the 14th state to pass a resolution calling on Congress to overturn Citizens United and one of only two states to call for an end to corporate personhood and state that money is not speech.
THANKS to all who called your legislators and helped in any way with leafleting, in-district meetings, and trips to Springfield.
The final votes were 37-9 in the Senate and 80-36 in the House, with both being bipartisan votes. If you want to see how your state representative voted here's the link: http://ilga.gov/legislation/votehistory/98/house/09800SJ0027_05312013_024000.pdf.
Watch for information on the next steps in the struggle to get big money out of politics.
THANKS and in solidarity,
Evelyn Miks
Thanks for all you do.
