MSNBC: Changes to Social Security

Sens. Harkin and Begich on MSNBC's Ed Show
Dr. Fred,
Last week, we launched a big campaign with a very bold vision: change the national conversation about Social Security from simply protecting benefits against politicians who want to cut them -- to expanding benefits.
With corporations slashing pensions, protecting the current system is not enough. It's time to go on offense and push to give people the help they need.
Senators Tom Harkin and Mark Begich appeared on MSNBC's Ed Show on Saturday for the first time together -- to discuss expanding Social Security.
Make no mistake, progressives are playing offense. (Finally!) And we're helping to lead this fight.
The PCCC and allies are running polls in key states, holding local events, making ads, and putting in calls to Congress. We're also working with Harkin and Begich to get more and more sponsors on their proposal.
By generating momentum for Social Security expansion, we take benefit cuts off the table, give progressives a great issue to run on in 2014, and pave the way for helping millions of our grandparents and veterans.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
