Dear Illinois MoveOn member,
Great news! Over the weekend, Governor Pat Quinn signed online voter registration into law in Illinois, making it more accessible for hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans to participate in upcoming elections. MoveOn members across the state signed the petition started by Rebecca Reynolds and the Chicago Votes Team—and we won!
We did it!!This past weekend, with Chicago Votes organizers standing behind him, Governor Pat Quinn signed online voter registration into law in Illinois. We couldn't have done it without the support of folks like you—we're proud of this victory, and grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.In the coming months, we'll be working with statewide elections officials to implement this system quickly, securely, and efficiently. We'll also be making sure that, through the wonders of the internet, online voter registration is available in many languages and for the visually impaired. By next summer, Illinoisans will be able to register to vote with just a few clicks.And now, it's on to the next project: Election Day voter registration!
