Multi-Family Grant Application Deadline
Owners of buildings with four or more rental units have until Feb. 29 to apply for grants of $10,000 or $1,000 per unit, whichever is less. Grants can be used for improvements to common areas, security or individual units. Funds must be expended within twelve months from the execution of the agreement, but funded buildings are eligible to reapply for grants every 12 months. As in past years, grants must be matched two-to-one by the owner of the building. Application materials will be mailed to building owners or their agents, as well as be available at www.oak-park.us/housing. For more information, call 708.358.5410 or email housing@oak-park.us.

The Power Is With Your Vote NOTICE: Although Feb. 4, 2016 is the statutory start of Early Voting, they anticipate that ballots will not be available at the beginning of this period. The ballots will be available no later than February 17 - the beginning of Grace Period.
Ballots will likely not be available on Feb. 4th due to several objections to nominating petitions. They anticipate that voting systems will be tested and will be available on or before Feb. 17. Any voters who arrive at the Chicago Election Board in the meantime will be provided with an application to Vote By Mail.

Chicago's first ever modern information hub for Military Veterans.
CHICAGO, IL - Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood will soon be home to the first ever modern information hub for Military Veterans. The VetHub was created by Veterans for Veterans to help facilitate the challenging transition of Military life to civilian life. It will not only serve as the office for Chicago Veterans, a 501(c)3, but it will also be used as a mentoring facility for Veterans needing assistance with disability claims, education benefits, building a resume, finding employment or even starting their own business. VetHub Features: Art work created or inspired by Chicago-area Veterans, access to office space, including laptops & printers for Veterans to work on online claims, resumes, job searches or even their own business plan, a gathering space for local Veterans to network and build new relationships, and home to numerous events and classes that will better serve our community and Veterans.
About the hosting organization: Chicago Veterans is a local nonprofit organization founded by a group of Combat Veterans. The all-volunteer team is focused on building a stronger Veteran community and providing guidance to returning Veterans by providing an informative website and hosting networking & social events.

| FREE Comedy Show for Veterans! Stars and Gripes will be bringing back their original sketch revue to remount it on Second City's Donny Skybox stage Fridays at 7pm during the month of Feburary. Stars and Gripes is a sketch ensemble comprised of veterans of the armed forces. Through comedy, they share their true experiences from their combined 30 years of military service, along with satirizing government bureaucracy and exploring the lighter side of war and the absurdest reality of military life.
