HLC Accreditation Update

Dear Fred,

In 2016, we are continuing with our university-wide review as part of our ongoing assessment following our reaffirmation of accreditation. We received reaffirmation from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in 2012–2013 for 10 years. This assessment is in preparation for our interim 4-year site visit in May 2017.

This year, the HLC Steering Committee's efforts will be focused on the following:

  • Building upon the social change special emphasis work conducted for the 2012–2013 self-study for the reaffirmation of accreditation
  • Presenting drafts of the accreditation assurance arguments for review by and feedback from different academic governance bodies
  • Submitting an improvement plan to our HLC liaison for feedback, based on the recommendations from the criteria committees as part of a voluntary process in the Standard Pathway

A continuing focus of our steering committee is to keep you informed of our progress. We have posted some additional information on our Pathway to HLC Excellence blog outlining Criterion Three, Criterion Four, and Criterion Five for our accreditation assurance arguments. These posts share information about what our steering committee members are reviewing and the evidence they are gathering to demonstrate that we are meeting the criteria for accreditation.

Please visit the blog today to read our posts, and then share your questions and comments at HLCFeedback@waldenu.edu. We look forward to sharing more information with you in the future about our progress.

Sincerely,

Eric Riedel, PhD
