The Obama Trauma: The African American Challenge for America

January 20, 2007

What are the social policy implications of having the Junior Senator from Illinois in the White House as President of the United States? Who are his possible running mates for Vice-President? How would Hillary Clinton impact the Presidency as Vice-President to Obama? How would Condoleezza Rice compare to Hillary Clinton as Vice-President to Obama? What would the country look like if Hillary Clinton or Secretary Rice were President and Vice-President?

Why should Conservatives believe Obama is a viable candidate for the Presidency? Can Obama bring the country together on one accord? What should his political agenda look like?

These are some of the hard questions for the "new" America. Can the country stand for something other than diversity?

I will attempt to answer these questions, as well as the questions developed as this research goes forth seeking answers to the social change of America and policy implications of those changes.

Update: January 23, 2007

I was listening to Don & Roma on WLS 890 AM radio this morning when they talked about Senator Obama smoking cigarettes suggesting people may not vote for him because he smokes cigarettes. The media has also talked about Obama and his middle name being a barrier for voters. In another situation, there is talk about why is there so much fuss over 2 African American coaches going to the superbowl. Give us a break Don & Roma.
